Trout Fishing
Long a favorite pastime for day or overnight guests, three stream-fed
ponds are located on the grounds. Ponds are open year round and
stocked with several species of trout: rainbow, brown, brook and
golden. Although most trout range from 3/4 pound to 1.5 pounds,
a number are often caught weighing over 4 pounds. The ponds are
in an ideal setting, thus providing excellent fishing conditions
for both beginner and expert anglers with fly or spinning tackle.
Admission is free to overnight guests of the Preserve. All trout
caught must be kept and paid for at $6.25 per pound. A separate
catch and release fly fishing pond is available for anglers using
barbless flies only, admission is $12.50 each. Our Pro Shop provides
rod and reel rentals along with a variety of tackle to meet your
needs. Nightcrawlers, mealie worms, and power bait can also be purchased
there.
